Many people talk about how hard it is—sometimes, and hard is relative. Staying in dialogue with all possibilities is essential. This can’t occur if we do not want to know ourselves: The intricacies, ancestries, fears, roots of compound trauma, complexes, cultural imprints…all that lies beneath the iceberg poking up from the deep waters, the slight glimpse that others get to see of us. We need to remember how much more there is that can’t be seen in others, as well. There is no mastery here. Only conversation.
