Maura Morales was born in Cuba. Her training as a dancer was classic. But the classical, the static was for Maura Morales always also restriction and limitation. And so the artist, who has appeared on many of the country's big stages, decided early on for the modern dance theater and, together with her life partner Michio Woigardt, founded the "Cooperative Maura Morales". The dance and music collective toured with various programs throughout the world and is a regular at numerous festivals. Filmmaker Simon Rauh accompanied Maura Morales on her travels. The film succeeds in getting close to the artist and allowing the viewer to participate in her work, her projects and visions, but also in her doubts and fears. Because a continuing knee injury, which forces Maura to an operative intervention, could mean the end of the career from one day to the next. Again and again Rauh combines his own observations with wonderful performance inlays of Morales, which proves how much power, energy and radiation the human body can have in motion. Together with the music composed by Michio Woigardt, A DANCING NOMAD is a successful portrait of a fascinating artist and an interesting insight into today's Cuba.
