The Tivoli Park is the largest park in Ljubljana and extends into the city centre - just in this northeast corner at a complex intersection, there is an outdated swimming pool from the 20s, its expansion into a sports and swimming centre since the 90s is controversial and debated.
LORENZATELIERS won Slovenia's first international competition in 2000/2001 with the urban idea of lifting the green meadow in the corner and placing the sports facilities in the resulting space: a 50 meters competition pool with sunroof, sports rooms, fitness centre, catering, shopping and an underground parking for 1,500 cars.
In 2009, the old swimming pool was surprisingly listed as monument. A new design, which combines all functions under a large flying roof, convinces the city, which then changes the development plan. "ILIRIJA" is still in the first place of important public projects.
