Bobby "BJ"Jones was an intelligent, hilarious, gifted and talented brother, son, father, cousin, friend, fiancé, and more to many.

To me, he was my cousin who grew up with me and my brothers, C Ray and B. We spent nearly all of our young lives going up to MacGregor Park in Houston, Texas.

In the Spring of 2018, My company Studio Enertia and I produced a series of free workshops and the Free Time Flow Festival at MacGregor Park, with the support of Young Audiences of Houston. We celebrated improvisation, basketball, and freestyle culture and I chose MacGregor Park because this is where I grew up. This is our home park.
Of course Bobby was there to support me, and if you know Bobby, you know he had jokes.

"This is the hood. We don't play this.." Bobby joked about the eclectic style of of free jazz and electronic music we were playing.
He went on to tease our friend DJ and rapper Fat Tony, "Tony's gonna play some Big Pokey."

A few weeks earlier I had a free yoga workshop at the park where Bobby was known to bbq, enjoy the weekend, hold court like he did. I laughed so hard when he told me " I only do yoga to DJ Screw", I had him repeat it to me three times.

At the Free Time Flow Festival, he cut off my freestyle like a hater but the truth is I learned how to freestyle with Bobby when we were little kids. He always has supported me and encouraged me to be a superstar.
It really takes one to know one.

This is just a snapshot of an amazing human being I have known nearly my whole life. I'm going to spend some time writing down the memories, the jokes, the stories, the antics! I'm not sure if I knew it until know but Bobby was a healer. His way with people, with laughter, with words his honesty, his stories and his care. I was crying so hard before I found this footage in my cell phone just now. I only found out Bobby transitioned two hours ago.
Already an angel, already IN MY BUSINESS and cheering me up, I know he pointed me to this beautiful day at our beloved Park. I will always look for him there.

Man. Keep em rolling in Heaven, BJ. Earth wasn't big enough for you. You will be greatly missed and remembered as the legend that you are. I wish we could have gone in the studio like we talked about so I could teach you how to really rap. AGAIN!
