There is nothing better than a high quality, well built, S13. These are some of the most versatile chassis on the road today. Whether you're looking for a show car, daily driver, drift missile, SCCA contender, this chassis can do it all; and well might I add. This 1993 Charcoal Metallic (KG2) is an excellent example of what a good daily with the power to back its reputation should be. The Origin Labo Streamline kit takes the factory lines and amplifies them with a more aggressive tone. Naturally being aftermarket it doesn't line up quite as perfect as the factory panels would, however, it does line up quite nicely. The paint and body are both in excellent shape, free of any notable blemishes. Since the stock wheels are a bit anemic a set of 17" Zepter Mesh wheels were employed. The beefier wheels have also just been fitted with all new tires to make sure this SR can put the power to the ground. Outback the taillights have been replaced with an Altezza style which certainly stands out compared to the factory ones.

The interior has had a bit of similar treatment. Several items have been upgraded without taking away from the day to day comfort and conveniences. The nicest of these upgrades are the Recaro Confetti reclinable seats. They offer a tremendous amount of support while being comfortable enough for any road trip. Sport buckets like this are prone to accelerated wear on the bolsters from getting in and out over the years. Both seats have been spared from this and were also kept stain and tear-free. To match the far superior seats the steering wheel and gear shift had to be upgraded as well. A leather-wrapped Nardi wheel and polished Veilside knob bring up the interior. On the flip side, like all S13s, the dash has its issues. Since it's such a common issue there are quite a lot of options available to hide the blemishes if you wanted to down the line. Peering in from behind that Nardi wheel is a Greddy boost gauge to monitor true boost at all times. That gauge is more than useful since there's a Trust Variable Valve Controller underneath the dash, right next to the trans tunnel. This allows you to change your boost setting on the fly for when you want a little more power. The times when you're simply out cruising an upgraded Carrozzeria head unit and speakers were added which have a surprising amount of compatibility here. Most radios only go up to 90MHz whereas this one goes up to 100MHz along with its USB and Aux input. All of the powered accessories are functioning like normal; the power windows, folding mirrors, door locks, and even the digital climate control.

Fitted with the only proper motor for an S chassis, the SR20DET. The aluminum two-liter has been outfitted with all of the basic bolt on's you would want, but nothing to make reliability an issue. With only 134K verified miles the SR feels strong right off of idle. The power delivery is smooth and the car certainly scoots. There's no wonder why the larger KA is routinely ditched in favor of this lightweight powerhouse. Paired with the factory 5 speed bring it all together. The transmission is smooth and more than adequate to handle the power it's making. An HKS intake helps feed the turbo, but it also makes all the right noises. In the noise department, a Fujitsubo catback exhaust lets the SR really sing. Since it's just a catback there's no highway drone or too overpowering for your neighbors. Ground control is handled via a set of JIC coilovers, and to help up top a Cusco rear strut tower brace was added. Naturally, the coilovers are a bit more of a stiff ride than stock, but they're easy enough for street use. All of the routine service work has been performed to make sure the car is running in tip-top shape. A fresh set of plugs, a new fuel filter, those four new tires, and a standard oil change. This car is a great example of what a sports coupe should be. It has all the right elements to make it a killer on the Tail of the Dragon yet still enjoy the drive there are back. After all, the S chassis is the best chassis.
