The R32 sedan packs tons of performance, good looks, and room for five. When you heard the name Skyline most everyone immediately thinks of the coupe, rarely does the sedan get any love. This 1992 Series Two four-door boasts a five-speed gearbox mated to a punchy turbo six-cylinder engine sending power to all four wheels. In stock trim, the R32 Skyline sedan does just about everything well and only gets better when you start dipping into the aftermarket. A full Vertex style kit was fitted all around giving a much more aggressive tone to the full-body sedan. We don't often see these kitted out which makes it a breath of fresh air. They took things a bit further by doing the GTR hood and grille conversion along with the larger, trademark wing outback. The factory Black Pearl Metallic (732) is in fair condition. It appears that the aftermarket aero was painted separate unlike many of our cars where they respray the entire car. The paint on the bumpers has some noticeable trash/bubbling in the paint. Overall the kit does mate up pretty well and has been kept crack free being FRP which is a plus. Being that it is a black car doesn't do us any favors as it tends to show clear coat scratches and imperfections more. The upside to not having show car paint is that you're less afraid to actually drive the car. You can leave it in a parking lot and not be worried about door dings or scratches.

The interior is purposeful and understated, in the way you'd expect a Japanese sports sedan of this era. Compared to the average Skyline we retail the quality of the interior is above average. From its nicely bolstered front seats, done is a quality thatched gray cloth that is soft to the touch. On the other hand, the rear seats look hardly used and the carpet and door cards reflect the same type of care. The dash only has a relatively small bubble forming that plagues most all R32s. There have been a few change-ups made to enhance the driving experience. The Nardi wheel gives a much cleaner look to the interior and the shift knob is fantastically contoured to fit in the palm of your hand. Tucked in neatly behind the shifter is your HKS EVC, Pivot Speed Meter, and Pivot ACS-M for additional performance controls. The factory radio has been upgraded and despite having limited use here stateside, gives you a great starting platform for when you switch in a newer double din. The gauges are easy to read, all the controls are at hand, and the R32 features a fully digital climate system that's simple enough to operate. Power amenities include power-folding mirrors, locks, and windows which make this a great option for a daily driver. It's even sporting a rather interesting aftermarket sunroof that we really haven't seen before.

Under the hood is the fire breathing, yet dependable, RB20DET straight-six. Thanks to a newly installed 12V battery this 2.0L fires up quickly and pulls strong to redline. The 5 speed is seamless and shifts without any hitches or grinds. You can nearly count on both hands the number of 5 speed performance sedans available for sale new in the US these days. Those of us looking for three pedals these days tend to be a dying breed. The great thing about the HNR32 platform is that it utilizes the same AWD system as the mighty GTR. Not only does that help with power delivery but it also gives you a year-round Skyline for of us that actually have seasons. With its aftermarket aero, you can't miss the giant HKS front mount intercooler tucked back there. Paired with the open intake the turbo never has to fight for fresh air. Outback is a high flow Kakimoto exhaust which really lets the note of the RB be appreciated. The suspension wasn't left out either, with Bilstein coilovers sitting at all four corners. Mechanically the car is in great shape, however, the 23K miles the cluster reads is not verified. It came in needing little additional maintenance other than its routine oil change and a replacement rear HICAS arm. While you can see it in the underbody photos we wanted to make note of the pinch welds and frame rails. Both of these do have some damage, assumedly from someone lifting up the car with a forklift which is a common way for cars to be moved. We also found some accelerated corrosion in the rear wheel wells which we can always get more detailed photos of. Taking all of this into consideration has made this R32 a particularly accessible daily driver. With an inexpensive market entry price, and a legendary drivetrain this unique Skyline is a true turn-key, Japanese Classic.
