The 300ZX twin turbo is hands down one of the most quintessential sports cars to come out of the '90s. The Z32 was on Car and Driver's top 10 list every year it was in production, and that's saying something. With it's ahead of the time cockpit, heaps of power, and state of the art suspension there's no doubt about why it belonged there. This 1991 is a prime example of what a proper Grand Tourer should be. With only 93K verified miles it's clearly been well cared for based on it's overall condition. It's also a bit surprising to find a car like this in such stock condition. Most have been modified in some form, even if it's the small things like an intake or exhaust. With the exception of an aftermarket headunit this one has been kept just the way it was from the factory. Finished in arguably the best color; Charcoal Pearl Metallic (KH2) makes the car look good in any light. The paint shows great for it's age however does have some routine blemishes from being driven over the years. There are some stone chips and blemishes to the lower chin spoiler due to the ride height, but nothing out of the ordinary. The most notable flaw comes with the rear wing, as many are familiar with the high density rubber polymer that Nissan made many of it's wings from. Because of the nature of it there is some wavyness and imperfections with it. The body has been kept up with really well and only some minor door dings, as you'd expect with any car this long. Trademark T-Tops are part of what made these cars so great, they even still have the original sun shades for them which are commonly lost or falling apart.
The Z's 2+2 configuration means you could squeeze someone into the back, but more realistically gives you an additional spot for storage. Being able to toss your gym bag or an umbrella back there makes the coupe a bit easier for daily duty. The grey cloth interior has been kept all original and in excellent shape. The power driver's seat does have a little bit of bolster wear from getting in and out, but has been kept stain free. The passenger and rear seats are in great shape and offer plenty of support for long drives. Surround the gauge cluster are all of our pertinent controls. Fitted with cruise control, fogs, power windows, door locks, and an automatic climate control that's blowing cold. The original steering wheel is still in place as it's home to the cruise control settings. The dash itself is in great shape, as these are prone to sun damage over the years. Th Z32 was one of the first cars to sport a selectable automatic trans. To the right of the selector has a setting for power (which holds your gear longer) as well as hold which allows you to select a gear and it won't accelerate past it. While not as sophisticated as newer double clutch transmissions it does make it a bit more fun when you get off the highway and into the backroads.
Under the hood is the infamous VG30DETT (3.0 V6 Twin Turbo) that made this car so famous. Built with the incredibly robust iron block these are known for their ability to make and handle power. Ours has obviously been kept all stock which most people prefer for a starting point if that's the route they're looking to take. Because of this it fires right up as soon as you turn the key. Power comes on smooth and pulls hard up to the 7K redline. The factory suspension on these are very capable when the road gets twisty without beating you to death on your morning commute. However ours came in needing a little help in that department. Now it's sporting four new OEM replacement struts and riding as well as it did from the factory. While going over it we've also replaced the rear brake pads, a brand new set of tires, as well as a routine oil change. The automatic transmission pairs well with this kind of GT car. It has the power on tap thanks to the twin turbos, yet is comfortable and easy enough to hop in and take on a weekend roadtrip. The A/T shifts smoothly and engages smoothly, sending all that power to the rear wheels with ease. For those after a proper sports tourer there's really no better option than the Fairlady Z.
