Sponsored by the University of Miami Sports Medicine Institute, the 9th Annual Student Leadership Day hosted nearly 200 South Florida high school students with an aim of helping them develop their leadership potential. The morning kicked off with a welcome from Dr. Lee Kaplan, director of the UM Sports Medicine Institute. Speakers and panelists included Coral Gables Chamber President and CEO Mark Trowbridge; former NFL player and Dolphins youth programs ambassador, Twan Russell; UM Womens Basketball Head Coach Katie Meier; UM Mens Head Basketball Coach Jim Larranaga; former NBA star Jamal Mashburn; NFL free agent Lorenzo Jerome; Olympic diver Sam Dorman; awareness mentor Monica Reyes; and UM Sports Medicine Institute physician, Dr. Stephen Henry.
