In June 2019 I visited the Grand Canyon for the first time and thought to myself, "What is the point of making any art that does not so beautifully disorient as this?" Alas, I'd already travelled westward with props and costumes in tow, intending to shoot this first short venture into science fiction, so I finished what I'd started. I made this during the blissfully naive pre-COVID days, when wearing a black face mask looked weird ... I wish we could all return to that place, together. I've been told I should publicly note that the singing voice covering Sun Ra is mine; I didn't think to include this in my credits. Made for the International Pancake Film Festival's Sci-Fi Extravaganza, which debuted at the historic Brattle Theatre in Cambridge, MA in November 2019.
