Recently decided to check if it's possible to visualize some scientific stuffs in Houdini. I created simple Electrostatic field between 3 charged objects. I used wrangler to set the field and volume trails to visualize it. Well, it looks not so nice, so I decided to add particles that can move along that trails. In POPNET I used popcurveforce node that used volumetrails as a force to move particles. There was one tiny problem :)) The trails always move, some disappear, others appear and so on. At first particles were exploding and everything looked messy))) However, when filed was not changing at all, particles moved along the trails without exploding. Well, the problem was in popcurveforce node. There is a parameter "Inherit velocity Scale" that should be set to "0" ;)
Rendered with Redshift. Some dust was added in After Effect with Echo and distortion effects ;)
