Dylan Bollinger is a theatre artist in Kansas City, Missouri, who specializes in design. For over ten years, he’s dedicated his time and effort to mastering his craft and teaching aspiring artists about the theatre industry. He is a passionate soul who loves creating art that represents something, taking extra care to make his work look good at first glance. Through his art, Dylan wishes to make provocative pieces that make people stop and think about the world around them.

As a highly educated individual, Dylan Bollinger has spent many years investing in his higher education to become familiar and proficient in the theatre industry. He received his BSEd. and M.Ed. in Theatre Education from Columbus State University, then his MFA in Drama with a concentration in Design from the University of North Carolina Greensboro two years later. During his master’s degrees, Dylan worked on two thesis projects: the first was the production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, while the second was a paper titled The Catholic Interpretation of Death reflected through Dramatic works, and the application based on Jesuit Theatre Conventions.

With his degrees in theatre education, Dylan Bollinger wishes to pass on his knowledge and expertise to all of his students. He started doing so as a Theatre Teacher and Director of Theatre for Harlem High School in Georgia, where he taught a number of theatre classes and directed several performances. He then became a Graduate Assistant for the University of North Carolina Greensboro, spending 20 hours a week supervising undergraduate students in several shops. He served as a Teaching Assistant for Lighting Design, Scenery, Theatre History, and Lighting & Sound when necessary.

Dylan Bollinger is presently an Assistant Professor and Director of Theatre Design/Technology for Avila University’s School of Performing Arts. Within his position, he teaches several courses and advises students majoring in Design, Technology, and Management as well as Theatre-Secondary Education. Additionally, Dylan oversees students in the design shops as they work with sound and AV equipment.

Dylan Bollinger has been an active member of the theatre industry for many years in more than just design roles. He has been an actor, stage manager, production manager, director, and several other positions. From 2015 to 2016, he was a Lighting and AV Manager for AMPA Events and oversaw 75 light and AV equipment installations for ceremonial events. This had him working alongside high-profile clients such as then-former Vice President Joe Biden, the US Senate, and Philip Morris USA.

Overall, Dylan Bollinger is a talented individual who gives his all to make sure the productions he’s part of are successful. Like himself, he wishes to teach his students to be unafraid of making bold choices in their work.
