When Lucy Eade noticed that a lot of students at her school carried heavy backpacks, it sparked her inquiry. She found that people who carried backpacks that weighed over 10 percent of their body weight were at risk of short-term and long-term injuries. This led to creating a device that measures and notifies an individual whether their backpack is over the recommended safe weight limit.
