That's the sentence that a good friend of mine of over 10 years received yesterday from a federal judge for a non-violent crime. I am incredibly sad for him but mostly his family. He is the type of friend who if he was out would be front row center at my fight yelling and screaming even though he lived in San Antonio, TX and beyond that he would have recruited another 20-30 to come and support me.

Because he can't..... today I will. I dedicate this workout to Jamie Balagia and his family.

To me the worst time before a bout isn't the day of or the night before, it's these last couple of workouts. I just want to get in there and do the match and do the thing. But patience is required. Speaking of patience, today we are working hard on defense.

Anyone can throw a punch. My 3 year old can throw a punch...not a great one yet, but a punch. Boxing is the skill of defense. It is an acquired skill learned the hard way by taking bumps and learning through mistakes. But once you have defense, you can really shine in boxing.
