Although intermittent fasting has many great benefits, it also has some side effects.

The good thing about this though, is that they only last for the first couple of weeks as your body transitions into fasting.

You have to remember that you've probably been eating 3 meals a day with snacks in between for years!

So your body will need a couple of weeks to adapt to intermittent fasting.

But after those 2 weeks you'll be burning fat like never before.

Intermittent Fasting Side Effect #1: Hunger

This comes as no surprise since your body has an internal clock telling you when to eat.

This is due to the hormone Ghrelin which controls hunger.

As you get used to fasting, Ghrelin will down regulate and will set according to your fasting schedule.

To reduce hunger I drink a lot of water in the morning. You can also drink black coffee or green tea.

Just make sure you DON'T add any sugar or creamer to your drinks.

Intermittent Fasting Side Effect #2: Headaches

During your 2 week transition you may experience some dull headaches and this is completely normal.

Once again, stay hydrated and that will decrease your headaches significantly.

Intermittent Fasting Side Effect #3: Cravings

Because you won't be consuming food constantly as you're used to doing, you'll have cravings, especially for sweets.

The best thing to do is to keep your belly full with fluids and to stay busy.

Staying busy will keep your mind off food and before you know it'll be time to eat.

Intermittent Fasting Side Effect #4: Low Energy

Since you don't have the constant source of energy coming from food, you may feel low energy.

This will eventually go away as your body starts burning fat as fuel instead of relying on glucose.

I like to add a little bit of Pink Himalayan Sea Salt to my first cup of water for a boost of minerals and electrolytes that will energize you.
