Transcript

In developing Asia, millions of women lack the educational resources to learn the skills they will need to succeed in the digital age.

To close this digital gender divide, ADB Institute recommends.

Every school-age girl should have access to a laptop or a tablet that is loaded with e-learning resources.

Institutions can offer rebates on these devices to incentivize girls and their parents to buy these devices and encourage responsible ownership.

Promote tech training camps in partnership with IT companies to teach software writing and app development.

Encourage science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM subjects, to give young women a better chance to find quality jobs and to become entrepreneurs.

It is crucial that girls and young women be given the IT tools that will enable them to achieve higher education goals and join the transition to sustainable growth to end poverty.
