I wrote this song in Kansas last week while doing my best to encourage my 97 year old mom - Zona Gale Sarff - to hold on and not follow my Step-dad, Arlin, immediately into Heaven. And one day, on a walk in the Flint Hills, this song came to me as a sort of cry of the heart in the messy details of life and passing from it. (My Mom is getting better, btw.)
