Urban Stomp: From Swing To Mambo is a documentary short chronicling the first four weeks of an educational journey through some of New York City’s most culturally rich neighborhoods. From lindy hop in Harlem to mambo in the Bronx, Urban Stomp provides arts workshops to young people that illuminate diverse personal and cultural backgrounds. Derrick L. Washington, curator and director of the project, sits down with its dance instructors, musicians, visual artists, and community members to explore the influence of these movements on their lives and their desire to continue to teach these venerable art forms to future generations.
