A play on words in response to the location and on-going activities surrounding I_S_L_A_N_D_S, the installation takes on a de-stereotypical approach towards storefronts. Taking reference from the variety of guitar and music instrument shops around the area, an engaged experience is created for visitors of Excelsior Shopping Centre, creating a non-hostile environment towards the fear of entering shops and making sounds.
 
Configured as if a storefront display window, visitors are not allowed to enter or physically interact with objects within the space. However, they have the liberty to activate these objects externally, through touch conductive materials attached to the exterior of the glass windows. Without stepping into the storefront, visitors can control and customise happenings within it. The materials presented for this store are designed to blend in with the surrounding soundscapes of visitors and their interaction in stores. 

When I first attended an exhibition at I_S_L_A_N_D_S, the soundscapes of electric guitars from shops around immersed me towards the artworks presented in the space. Probably not intended for that to happen, it changed the experience of the artworks, in a very pleasurable way. With this installation, I hope the physicality and interactivity of art and commercial centres can bind together and present itself as a quirk within the mall, where music visitors and art-goers alike can experience collectively and communally.
