This is a shortened excerpt from 'The Sound We Inhabit' (2019), which is a 30 minute composition, originally written and commissioned for Chisenhale Studios.

'The Sound We Inhabit' (2019) is organised in 5 movements. It was written for Korean Flute (otherwise know as Teagum), Violin, Electric Guitar and Bass Clarinet. The work is written using a graphic score, a non traditional pictorial form of notation to deliver the minimum structure that the musicians need in order to work together to create the piece.
'The Sound We Inhabit' (2019) is based around the dissonance between my desire for quick, responsive and temporary architectures and the need for longer term stability and support.
Focusing on sound and music as a form that is both inhabitable but inherently amorphous and temporary, the work is context contingent. The space it is performed in influencuences note choices, pitch interaction and duration. It is the intention that the work could be compacted and re-arranged in another space producing a different iteration of the piece.
