The Scroll Project is a public art project by Clara Pitt and Leila Tilin. Curious about the impact of the pandemic on public life and urban culture, we created this project to foster reflection and conversation between residents of New York City. Over the course of a week in May 2021, we took a 28 foot scroll to four public spaces in NYC: Washington Square Park, Diversity Plaza, 34th Avenue Open Street, and Sunset Park 5th Avenue Open Street. At each location, residents were invited to respond to prompts about public spaces in NYC during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
