Emerging from the rubble of a civil war, electronic musicians of Sri Lanka face the scrutiny of a conservative government and the rise of globalization in building an inclusive electronic music scene. The struggle to form and maintain a community affects everyone in the scene from commercial DJs at upscale Colombo clubs to experimental soundscape artists. With the common goal of creative expression, some will stop at nothing to keep the party going. Plagued in controversy and driven by human passion, Setting the Scene is a homage to the power of music and our need to express ourselves.
