Puerto Ricans are a combination of cultures, which can cause a lot of confusion when it comes to our identity. As I wake up from my colonial somnolence (for the second time in my life) I'm discovering a lot more about my culture and sociopolitical history. Here is my first attempt at explaining how history has played its part in our psychology to this day.
The intro theme was composited from a famous Harris Paints commercial, Los Colores de mi Tierra, by agency, Premier Maldonado. It hit Puerto Rico's theaters in 1993 and since then has been considered the island's second national anthem (after La Borinqueña, por supuesto). The song was composed by Alberto Carrión and produced by Martín Nieves. It holds a special place in my heart.
