Montreal, Canada, gets really cold in the winter. -20 degree kind of cold.
As the city turns white, we wanted to bring colour, celebration and warmth to the art district. We created 5 colourful mysterious boxes hiding joyful creatures that took over the plaza. The arts installation is very simple and collaborative, using voice activation, people are invited to talk to the creature of their choice, using the pod associated to it. The goal is to convince the creature to get out. If people manage to trigger the 5 creatures as the same time, they will give you a show!
The impact of the project was massive. Over the course of two months, the creatures were triggered over 50 000 times bringing joy and laugher all day long. Adults and children alike were dancing and singing along with the creatures -- transforming the coldest urban month of the year into one massive party!
