About this Exercise
Less can be More:
One action practiced across different positions, repeated a number of times, with the body perfectly co-ordinated, full out and unrestrained
develops power based on strength, balance and perfect placement, with maximized range of movement built on flexibility supported by the core. Here the action is to lift against gravity’s downward pull. All footwork closes with the weight on two feet, pressing down against the ground with maximum lift through the body.
Off Center work holds a strong center to balance the different stretches into off center. The depth and reach of movement centers on correctly using the breath to achieve flow and avoid tension.
Dancers: 2nd and 3rd year classical students, De Nationale Ballet Akademie; Music : Franck A.D.Brinke ; Filmed in Amsterdam, the Netherlands Camera: Henk Van Dyke, Guido Ganzeman
