«Liveness» is a live acousmatic music performance conceived for drums, one subwoofer and four speakers, everything located in the former vaults of the Alte Münze building in Berlin. It involves the challenging of common notions about gestural characteristics in the instrument-performer relation, transparency in real-time sound manipulation and the engagement with the acoustic qualities of architectural structures.
The performance took place in March 2021 in the vaults of the Alte Münze building in Berlin. The place is known for its over 700 years old history of coin production and storage. The maze-like characteristics of the cellars with their very different room acoustics act as a diffuser of the acoustic drum performance and the electronic playback by the speakers.
