This is the updated version of the commercial, where we swapped the players out at the beginning for the logo.
Logistically, it made a ton of sense, but I hated it and here's why.
The chromatic separation of the logo is not a trick, I literally output the separate channels of the image from Photoshop, and then added some blur and wiggle to these layers in 'overlay' in Ae, and when they lived up perfectly, they produced the original color image.
This looked much more impressive when it was used on player images.
In the first version, three different players were 'recombined' in this way, and it looked really cool and worked with the music. But switching to the logo (which was completely necessary) so dramatically reduced the impact of the chromatic assembly that it is unlikely anyone noticed it.
Obviously this is a first-world graphic designer complaint, but I think you'll agree that the opening of the original version is much cooler.
Also, in the remix here, I was asked to tone down the 'CRT' look of the individual screens, which further reduced the impact.
I may have enjoyed Max Headroom a little too much in my youth.
