When I was in high school, one of my friends—Kathleen Klosterman—was the piano player for our jazz choir, and she was awesome (she *still* is awesome). On occasion, we, and another student or two, performed Linus and Lucy in talent shows or just for fun in the music room before class or rehearsals started. That was 40 years ago. 40! So last year I asked Kathleen if she’d record herself playing songs from the Charlie Brown Christmas album, and I’d try to add drums and bass remotely. She sent me several videos of her playing those songs last year. The piano audio recording is just off the camera, but it sounds good nonetheless; kind of raw and live. I added an accoustic drum track and bass track that I recored through my computer (with an iPhone recording the video at the same time). Then put it together in iMovie. The intro/outro is also Kathleen on solo piano. Anyway, Have a Merry Christmas, everyone! And a special Merry Christmas to my old high school friends and teachers at Seaside High in Seaside, Oregon. Art and music programs are essential to public education. Those programs help kids at the time do better academically and emotionally, etc., and the lessons learned and relationship formed in art/music can stay with students for an entire lifetime. I am very thankful for the schools, teachers, and support I had as a kid.
