Drone shots filmed during a low-intensity prescribed burn on February 20, 2020 at the Sagehen Creek Field Station in the Tahoe National Forest.
-- PLEASE DO NOT FLY DRONES AROUND WILDLAND FIRES WITHOUT PERMISSION --
For this video, I was able to work directly with the Truckee Ranger District of the US Forest Service as well as the Sagehen Creek Field Station that is running the Sagehen Forest Project. (sagehenforest.blogspot.com/) Before being able to do this, I also had to go through a Red Card training for basic wildland firefighting knowledge and skills. (which was also super interesting and informative!)

By burning lightweight fuels like pine needles and shrubs, firefighters
aim to preemtively help reduce the devastating effects of wildfires
caused by excessive fuel build-up while at the same time
encouraging new growth of native vegetation. Prescribed fires can reintroduce the beneficial effects of fire into an ecosystem.
