I stumbled upon Shana Mans's profile via social media and instantly knew I creatively and professionally wanted to lens her talent. Meeting her on the Sea Point waterfront on the morning of the shoot, Shana wanted to capture the raw emotion with no fancy camera languages around it.
Shana instantly pushed me out of my comfort zone, operating with gimbals, technocrane, and state of the art motion capture, I had to force myself to the raw nature of filmmaking, allowing the camera to guide me threw the essential skills of Shana's performance.
Upon its completion, I knew the "mood film" required something more as it needed to stand on its own. Michael Wilson-Trollip and I got together to add its final touches, an original score to complete the film and its raw look at an emotionally tormented woman on the edge of something personal.
The film is a collaboration among three strangers on the extensions of their art-forms, and a testament to the craft. When all cylinders fire together, magic is where the art lies.
