A short film about how overwhelming thoughts can become after the sun goes down. Night can be a vulnerable time for the mind when a lot is going on in a persons life and head. Hours filled with darkness can become a mental prison when you are alone and unable to fall asleep. The morning light can often have a relieving effect and can take a slight weight off your shoulders. It’s an atmosphere associated with positivity and it can make everything feel a lot easier and thoughts less overwhelming.
When thinking about my own interpretation of the theme ‘Bright’, I decided I wanted to make a film reflecting on how powerful and therapeutic physical brightness can be on someone's state of mind. The world can seem like a much scarier place at night and the brightness of a new morning is something that can bring comfort to people all around the world who are going through a tough time. A morning can serve as a fresh start and sometimes a little extra sunshine can feel like a sign from the universe that there are indeed brighter times ahead.
This short film was written, directed, filmed and edited by me and is an initial sample of my work for Edinburgh Napier University, BA (Hons) Film course.
