I’ve decided to remaster some albums, tracks and films that have already been released.
 Just felt I could give them a different kinda sound and or look…

I import the audio files into the daw and then usually load one or more processors of some kind (vinyl, compressor, desk emulations etc) on the stereo master buss. This is configured to colour, shape the sound. My versions are sometimes lower in vol level than the originals. Some releases are hot to signal, but I'm looking for an inherent sound.

Sometimes I apply some chamber and or hall reverb.

Visuals I sometimes grade, edit or alter in other ways.

A film by Albie Thoms, 1969

Albie Thoms was part of the Ubu Films collective (mainly mid to late ’60s, Sydney) which also included David Perry, Aggy Read and John Clark. Albie, David and Aggy are in Marinetti (Aggy carries the reels), along with other artists and hangers out.
Ubu Films was not government funded.

I edited the film down to half the length of the original. I felt that some music set to the visuals (coming in after the opening) worked.
Some edits were made regarding this. I feel that the footage is in sync with the music on some other level, beyond my own participation.
One instance of this is when Lou Reed sings the line ‘And the coloured girls go de, de, de….’, a coloured girl arrives in the footage, right on cue (I was amazed to discover this, not being that familiar with the film - having simply lined up the audio track).
