During 2018 and 2019 together with our colleagues from holding Airports of Regions, architectural bureau Nowadays, Maсrofabrica company and the head of the project Arseniy Krukov we have been preparing “Gagarin” project. The airport executed in space style and named after Yuri Gagarin was inagurated on the 18th of August 2019, the Air Force Day in Russia.
Radugadesign studio was responsible for the multimedia content of the “Gagarin” art exposition. We tried to transform the airport into spaceport to wake up visitors’ imagination. Our exposition suggests passengers of the airport to accomplish not only travel, but time travel. Using the language of new media the new Saratov airport tells about people’s perception of the space before and after the first flight and how the first flight affected culture: literature, painting, cinema. Each of the airport’s parts was filled with one thematic section of the exposition.
