VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Play, download and edit the free video Demo CRT Effect with Blender 2.83 (Nodes only).
Test of a CRT effect with sweep of the screen as if it was captured by a camera. This effect is intended to be used on a 3D model of Amstrad CPC in a short movie.
Blender 2.83 compositing nodes are exclusively used here.
You can find the project file on my GitHub repository : github.com/dcarlus/BlenderStuff
The original video has been captured from the Caprice32 emulator and the Star Wars video game (Amstrad CPC).

The node system used in this .blend file applies two filters on the recorded video to sharpen pixel matrix rendering and edges of the screen content (text and shapes). A random variation of the value of the movie is applied to slightly flicker the picture.
The sweep effect is based on a blurred dark area (made in Inkscape here, but whatever) that randomly moves along the Y axis.
Random variations are applied thanks to the "Noise" modifier that can be applied on properties in the Graph Editor of Blender (Key menu > Add F-Curve modifier > Noise). This modifier can be edited in the sidebar (press "N" key to show) : period, amplitude, etc.
