Fresh Filmmakers is a Koi-Fly Creative social impact brand. The program connects at-risk youth with charitable, passionate organizations to create pro-bono marketing materials to garner more donors and participation. This past semester's philanthropic partner was Covenant House.

This once in a lifetime growth opportunity for these students is founded on 4 pillars: Mentorship, Creative Expression, Experiential Learning, and Service to Others. These 4 pillars contribute to the enrichment of these students intellectually, experientially, and most importantly, emotionally.

Experiential learning taught by skilled mentors, state-of-the-art tools, and countless resources inspires students to embrace their passions. Each school semester, the entire Koi-Fly Creative team rallies to curate inspiring workshops and hands-on teaching about the video, film and marketing industry.

These workshops are all centered around the pre-production and post-production for the Fresh Filmmakers' big semester project: a pro-bono promotional video for a local nonprofit partner produced and edited by the students. Being driven by service to others awakens compassion, understanding, and gratitude. The learning and charitable ecosystem Koi-Fly Creative developed consistently leads to deeper learning and greater self-esteem and happiness in all facets of life for the students.

Finally, creative expression and having a creative outlet has been proven to help mitigate stress in teens and young adults. This is a particularly important skill for the underprivileged students involved in the Fresh Filmmakers program to learn. Through hands-on art direction, whether through storyboarding, scripting or post-production, students are able to immerse themselves in creativity and potentially find a new passion to direct their energy output.

Koi-Fly Creative created Fresh Filmmakers not just to give students workshops on marketing and video production, but also to use mentorship as a vehicle to pay it forward to a deserving non-profit with a story to tell.
