Towards the end of last year, my beautiful friend Carmela and I decided to create something together. She wanted to be on the other side of a camera for the first time and I wanted to just dance and live my life. It had been a while since I danced for fun and figured it was time, so we threw some clothes in a bag and walked around Brooklyn (our hometown) until we found something that moved us.

Lately, I have been greatly inspired by Rosalia. Maybe it’s because her music transcends all kinds of musical genres and this transcendence has been resonating with me on a deeper level. I understand not fitting in to one particular group/genre/idea. Growing up half Guyanese and half Puerto Rican, I never felt like I fully belonged to either culture. Dance saved me and gave me an identity outside of culture, a safe space some may call it. But having to define what kind of dancer I am always gave me anxiety because I love it all!

Recently, I have been drawn to exploring Hip Hop and Flamenco. This is me sharing a piece of myself dancing, living, and moving freely in the city that raised me. Looking forward to more exploration and creation.
