As you all know, I do not believe in "spot treating" your pelvic floor. This means that I often look at other parts of the body that ultimately impact your pelvic floor as a way to help my clients strengthen their pelvic floor muscles. One of those important body parts is your shoulders. Sounds crazy-- but yes, it's true!! When your lose mobility in your shoulders, your pelvis often takes over to help acoomplish tasks that your shoulders and ribcage should be doing.
The ribcage is the home of the diaphragm -- the important breathing muscle that has a symobiotic relationship with the pelvic floor. When your shoulders and the ribcage they connect to start to move with more fluidity, your breath becomes easier and your pelvic floor has the abiltiy to start working reflexively again. This particular exercise, the Turntable, target your rotator cuff muscles -- which are essential players in almost every type of shoulder movement!
