Design & Make Project. Year 2. Inspired by the dollhouse in The Miniaturist.
The main focus was on model-making and the automata mechanism. My assessment was Tue 14th May. Didn't have enough time to make the film before the deadline. So I just did it after. This was alright because I could work at my own pace, not worry and have fun with it.
What was meant to be a bit of tweaking turned into scrapping most of the film and starting again. Originally I had filmed more live-action bits of the the puppets moving. I did this because I found animating very fiddly. Especially since I forgot to stick all the toys down! So yeah... I wasn't happy with how it looked and it didn't make much sense.
So I got rid of most of it. I tried animating some short scenes with the toys and changed the music. I like this version more.
I bought the music box from Hobby's and soldered it to the switch and battery. It is Lara's Theme from Doctor Zhivago (1965).
