Basics of Gua Sha for Lympathic Drainage
First things first.
Always hold the stone at a 45* angle against the skin.
Always keep it light! Lymph its right below the epidermis so in order to depuff and sculpt you need to glide extremely lightly. (the skin should not show any pressure being used)
Always start with the neck and work up from there.
It's always a good idea to work out the lymph nodes around the ears and collarbone to get the face and body ready for drainage! It will make the gua sha much more effective.
( Do so by lightly pulling at the front of the ear with a small flat part of the stone, then move to the back of the ear gently pulling in light swift motions down the neck. Then take two finger and lightly press under collarbone a few times -- this is where the lymph from the face will drain)
Make sure face is toned and lightly oiled.
Do every movement 3-9 times.
And that you are in a comfortable, relaxed place and position.
NECK!
With the largest flattest edge of the stone, start working up the neck in 3 sections
(back, side middle)
At the end of each long fluid motion stop at the ear and add a little pressure.
JAW!
Now with the part of the stone that looks like a U-Shaped divet you will begin shaping the jaw.
First put slightly more pressure on the lowest part of the stone working your lower jaw.
Do the move 3-9x
Next, add more the pressure to the center of the stone working the jaw bone.
Finally, add more pressure to the top of the stone working the upper jaw.
After each move stop at the ear and add a little pressure, then pull down the neck to collarbone for lymphatic drainage -- repeat a few times)
MOUTH // CHEEKBONES!
For lip lines -- use the u shaped divet of the stone around the mouth and begin to move up towards ear.
For Smile Lines -- use the flat side of the stone and begin to move up from smile line towards temple. Repeat at least 5x.
For Cheek Bones -- start with largest side of the stone and move from side of nose/corner of eye and move down cheek bone up towards temple. Repeat at least 5x.
EYES!
Keep it suppppper light.
The skin around the eyes is very thin, less is more!
Using a small flat part of the stone and one finger as counter pressure move from the inner corner of the eye out to the temple.
For Crows Feet-- use bumpy edge part of the stone at a perpendicular angle to the wrinkle and the other hand as counter pressure, in quick, little motions saw (or rub out) the wrinkles! This can be done with slightly more pressure and repeated around 5x on each spot.
EYEBROWS and 11's!
With the u-shaped divet of the stone and start at the eyebrows (between the eyes)
Putting pressure on the center of the stone, gently move over entire eyebrow to temple.
For 11's-- repeat instructions for Crows Feet.
FOREHEAD!
Use rigged long edge of stone move from eyebrows to hairline.
Repeat in Center, to Right and Left.
