This collaboration focuses on trash and takes place through a series of texts, voice messages, images, and video calls. We pay attention to our experiences as city-dwellers and get glimpses of a city through each other's eyes: familiar sites, unfamiliar objects, imagined places.
Our trash study revealed complexities and contradictions; pointing towards a hyperobject-like quality. We collected documentation of trash and established a semantic relationship through associations and stories, resulting in a trash diary.
At arthereistanbul, we exhibit a video work that animates trash from Kadıköy, Turkey. Together with sound and movement, we create a virtual space to simulate a sense of uneasiness, as if wandering in a vast sea of trash.
