Firefox OS "Haida" was a vision for the second generation of Mozilla's mobile operating system, created by a small team of Moz designers and engineers in 2013. We sought to define a "Truly Web" mobile experience, built on the unique strengths of the web platform and the web community. "Flow" was the core design Haida principle, meant to capture the seamless low-friction feeling that we loved about classic browsing. Flow inspired many features, including edge gestures as a means of flipping between content faster and more intuitively. This was pre-iOS7 when the concept was still novel, mind you. This animation was produced for Mobile World Congress 2014, and captures the use of edge gestures to move between sites and apps. It was built in After Effects from Photoshop comps.
