Bob and I went this morning just because we could. We wanted to see how Scout, a small Llewellin, would do without any human scent on the birds. She does real well with the pigeons with no movement or flagging. However when we use quail that we have touched she seems unsure and moves around and flags. So we did not touch the birds this AM and she did better. We do not know what is going on in her head.
We have had several young dogs do this and most get over it. It is troublesome to us in training.
Spook did very good and we think ready to hunt. Annie and Lucy did good and so we had a good day. The birds were very good for released birds.
