We were approached by UNHCR, The UN Refugee Agency to create a new global campaign to raise awareness and solidarity for refugees. After an extensive period of research and development, we created the ‘Step with Refugees’ campaign.
The campaign challenges the public to keep track of their steps and add them to a global ‘realtime’ counter to help reach a total of two billion Kilometres in 12 months. This is the same distance refugees worldwide travel each year to reach safety. Participants of the campaign can also choose to follow in the steps of a refugee and match their distance travelled to reach a UNCHR refugee camp. Overall, the journey narrative is a strong motif that runs through the entire campaign, which subtly uses technology to connect individuals million miles apart.
Our creative led to a collaborated with Ben Stiller and poet Emi Mahmoud to create the launch promo which had a global reach. The graphic packaging across all forms of media needed a coherence that suggested a sports oriented creative and inclusive across the stepwithrefugees.org platforms. To keep the campaign inline with UNHCR’S branding, we utilised their striking colour scheme which is consistent through all the assets.
