The highly collectible nature of the R32 Skyline has inadvertently led it to be one of the most prized exports of Japan. Finished in the ever classic Crystal White (326) this 1993 Type M features some sporty GT-R aero bits and a few tasteful performance upgrades. The body is in good shape other than some minor dings and scuffs from normal use, but enthusiasts likely will only likely care about the mechanicals. A stout 2.0L RB20DET, five-speed manual and rear wheel drive make this a collectible car that you don't have to feel bad about daily driving.
Those who love the R32 aren't usually enamored with the quality of the interior, although this generation Skyline came with some nice power amenities for day to day life. On the positive side the soft, grey cloth seats have held up quite well over the years. Comfortable on long journeys, the rear and front are both devoid of major imperfections such as rips, stains, or tears. The carpets and door cards are in fine shape as well, and the headliner is still taught and tight on the roof. The OEM head unit is powered properly, and the digital climate system is operational. The gauge cluster was replaced with the highly desirable NISMO one, which raises the top speed reading and looks sportier. Naturally, due to the cluster swap, we cannot verify the mileage on the chassis. Upgrades to the interior are sparse, however, the factory steering wheel has been replaced with a small diameter Momo Corse and a Razo weight shift knob. Some normal wear items should be noted, as the dash has the typical bubble, the speaker's quality is poor, and the c-pillar trim is degraded.
Where the R32 may have fallen short on the interior fit and finish, the mechanical aspect was over-engineered, and have proven themselves time and time again. The RB20DET is a silky smooth sump, with only 1998cc of displacement but with six cylinders. With a twist of the key, the two-litre starts right up and sets into a vibration-free idle. It makes all the right sounds with an HKS intake fashioned upfront, and Fujitsubo exhaust out back. Benefitting from a fresh oil service and Virginia state safety inspection, this Type M needn't be serviced for another three-thousand mile. Acceleration is brisk, and power is sent rearward thought the five-speed manual transmission. The coupe easily crests highway speeds, but the real fun occurs in the twisties. New Tires, freshly mounted and balanced by our trained technicians sits at all four corners to handle grip. A beefier LSD replaces the factory unit, and the suspension has received a complete overhaul. Stateside, new front upper control arms have been installed ensuring the R32 goes the direction you point it in. The OEM dampers were replaced in Japan with Cusco adjustable units, which can be set up based on ones driving preference. Handling is flat, and braking occurs quickly with some pressure to the middle pedal.
A Japanese Classic for many reasons, the Skyline is prized as a collector car that you can daily drive. Its iconic looks, fantastic driving dynamics, and rarity this turn-key example is up to date on maintenance and ready to carve up some pavement with the best of them!
