Behind this cinematographic maxim attributed to the screenwriter Michel Audiard, visual artist Olivier Ratsi creates, as a maker of imagery and a spatial craftsman, this striking and multi-sensorial chromatic journey: Eyes wide open, we pass from the colorful intense light of a controlled schema to the diffracted light of an illusive space and time. One with blurred outlines.
From the surface of the eye to the whole body, we live the experience in visu and we feel it; mirroring symbolically our relationship to a saturated technological era that has revealed its limits and where the future appears to lack perspective, clarity or visibility, it reflects this moment of dizziness, the fug that we live in, during which we must all be a little cracked to collectively let in the light.
Happy are those who are cracked, because they let in the light...
Invites us to change our state of mind, to rethink our perspective, our attitudes, our focus and our relationship to our surroundings. Through optical phenomena (infinity games, optical illusions, anamorphosis, mirrors) and geometrical forms, we are drawn between consciousness and sub-consciousness as our vision is imbued and impaired bringing life to the dozen hybrid installations imperceptibly moving.
Detached from their technical backdrops, and organized into large monochrome primary color blocks; they become a collection of incandescence, tangible or imaginary. Sculptures of light that are diffused or beamed, hot or cold, drawing with enhanced reality the abstract and bright constellations that we can metamorphose and link together with our eyes, our free wanderings, our emotions and our perception of the world.

Derrière cette maxime cinématographique attribuée au scénariste Michel Audiard, l’artiste visuel et plasticien Olivier Ratsi imagine, à la manière d’un artisan-faiseur d’images et d’un bâtisseur d’espaces, une traversée chromatique saisissante et pluri- sensorielle : les yeux grands ouverts, nous passons de la couleur- lumière intense d’un espace-temps contrôlé à la lumière diffractée d’un espace-temps fugitif aux contours flous. De la surface de l’œil au corps tout entier, l’expérience est à vivre in visu et à éprouver ; miroir symbolique de notre relation à une époque technologique saturée semblant montrer ses limites et dont le futur manque parfois de perspective, de clarté ou de visibilité, elle reflète ce moment de vertiges et de brouillard que nous vivons, dans lequel il nous faut être un peu fêlé pour collectivement laisser filtrer la lumière.
Heureux soient les fêlés, car ils laisseront passer la lumière invite à un changement d’état, à une régénération singulière des angles de vue, des postures, des points d’attention et du rapport à ce qui nous entoure. Par des phénomènes optiques (jeu d’infinis, trompe- l’œil, anamorphose, miroirs) et des tracés géométriques, notre regard, entre conscience et inconscience, s’imprègne et s’abîme tout en donnant vie à une dizaine d’installations hybrides mises imperceptiblement en mouvement.
Détachées de leur arrière-plan technique, elles sont organisées en grands blocs mono-couleur primaires ; à partir d’un ensemble de faisceaux, tangibles ou imaginaires, ces sculptures de lumière, diffuse ou projetée, chaude ou froide, dessinent en réalité augmentée des constellations abstraites et vibrantes que nous métamorphosons et relions entre elles du regard, de nos libres déambulations, de nos émotions et de notre perception du monde.
