The Growing Up trilogy was developed for facilitated interventions in Indian schools on adolescence, puberty and sexuality education. Aimed primarily at English speaking 7 - 13 year olds, the films were designed to be used in facilitated settings, and were accompanied by a facilitator's handbook that expanded on the information content of the films.
The films revolve around the adventures of Green and Blue, two aliens investigating the human species with the aid of their grouchy computer; and feature extensive use of animation and singalong songs.
Chapter 1: From Small to Big examines the process of growing up, and the physical changes of puberty.
The films were featured in the Mumbai International Film Festival win 1998; and received the New Delhi Video Festival 1998 award (as Best Educational Film of the Year), as well as the Best Educational Film award at the 13th UGC-CEC Film Festival the same year.
More than 6000 sets of the films have been distributed to educators and CSOs across South Asia and South East Asia till date, making it one of the most successful and enduring sexuality education interventions in the last two decades.
