Korpys/Löffler/Schmal präsentieren ihr neu erscheinendes Künstlerbuch Geist, welches sich ihren Destillierungsaktionen widmet, die sie seit 2002 an unterschiedlichen Orten durchgeführt haben. So destillierten sie im Rahmen der gleichnamigen Ausstellung, die 2012 im Künstlerhaus Bremen stattfand, nicht nur einen Teil der Galeriewand, sondern auch die Ausdünstungen der Gäste der Vernissage.
Ausgehend von Korpys/Löffler/Schmals Destillierungsaktionen, fokussiert der Vortrag von Cecilia Novero künstlerische Experimente im Kontext der (Neo)Avantgarde. Anhand diverser Beispiele skizziert Novero die Verwendung von Gerüchen und wie diese Materialität vermitteln und dessen Abwesenheit oder Unsichtbarkeit verschärfen. Sie geht dabei auf Prozesse wie Destillation, Verdampfung und den Geruchssinn von Hunden ein.
Der Vortrag fand im Innenhof des Künstlerhauses Bremen statt und wurde vor Ort live übertragen. BesucherInnen konnten sich via Zoom live dazuschalten.

Korpys/Löffler/Schmal present their newly published artist book Geist, which is dedicated to their distillation actions they have carried out at various locations since 2002. For example, as part of their exhibition Geist at the Künstlerhaus Bremen. Here, they have distilled not only parts of the gallery wall, but also the exhalations of the guests at the opening.
Based on Korpys/Löffler/Schmal’s distillation actions, Cecilia Novero’s lecture focuses on artistic experiments in the context of the (neo)avant-garde. Using diverse examples, Novero outlines the use of smell and how they convey materiality and exacerbate its absence or invisibility. She addresses processes such as distillation, evaporation, and the sense of smell of dogs.
The lecture took place in the courtyard of Künstlerhaus Bremen and was broadcast live on site. Visitors could join in live via Zoom.
The events was organised as part of the joint project "Smell it! The Fragrance of Art".
