The Santa Fe Indian School was first established in 1890 as a federal Indian boarding school and was initially tasked with assimilating Native children. SFIS is now a fully tribally controlled school and its mission encourages its 700 students to participate in culture and pursue an education at the same time. We’re joined today by the school’s new superintendent, Christie Abeyta, who happens to be the first ever female to hold the position.

The Supreme Court ruled that Alaska Native corporations were eligible for pandemic relief funding found in the CARES act. The ruling was the culmination of a year-long battle that divided Indian Country and called into question long-standing legal precedents. Joining us is ICT reporter Meghan Sullivan.
