How do extreme personal or social situations shape ourselves – and can art serve as a survival strategy? Inspired by instruments that were built out of rubbish by soldiers in the trenches of World War I, cellist/performer Céline Papion follows the traces of a young soldier through the war. Starting point and main focus of this journey is the instrumental sculpture OTTO. An international team of young composers (Huihui Cheng (CN), Lukas Huber (CH), Steffen Krebber (DE), Joseph Michaels (US) und Sophie Pope (GB)) wrote music for this instrument to which the live-electronic compositions by Oliver S. Frick provide a tension-filled counterpoint.
