This is my fourth Glenn Miller video and it's been over three years since the third one. What makes this video special is that it follows the original 78 RPM recording that played in jukeboxes and on radio stations across the nation in the late summer and fall of 1942. The song was recorded on May 20, 1942 in Hollywood. A longer version was recorded for Orchestra Wives that runs 7 minutes and 43 seconds. The first 4 minutes and 3 seconds make up a longer version of the song that was released as a 78 single. The film was released on September 4, 1942. The song hit #1 on Billboard on September 12 and stayed there for eight weeks.

This video is unique in that the track used is the original hit 78 rpm record. The single was edited down to 3 minutes and 15 seconds from the recording in the film. The percussion intro was edited out and the transition to the jazzier last 3 minutes was replaced by an ending. I edited the film and synchronized it to match the original hit record. A very difficult process on this one, but now there is at last an AUTHENTIC video of the original hit recording people listened to on their phonographs, radio, and on jukeboxes rather than a decidedly different seven minutes and 43 seconds long film musical extravaganza. The original hit record finally has a visual match.
