Play-Fight Camp 2019 gathered 68 people from 26 different nationalities. Each of them bringing in their luggages rich experiences and expertises from various physical disciplines. An extremely rich cross-cultural exchange that still echoes within. The group was naturally committed to move together through an empowering yet challenging process. We survived the inevitable ups and downs during those 11 intense days. Thank you Rob Poyton for being with us for the third time with a contagious eloquence. Thank you also Natalia Wik for joining the tribe for the first time with your heartfelt approach to Gaga classes. We were privileged this year to have a soulful music from Stan Potoku, who added another dimension in the possibility to explore Play-Fight with live music.
Experiences as such make the label Play-Fight look smaller in comparison to the depth of what the practice is truly about. The challenge has lately been aggravated by a surge of self-proclaimed PF facilitators tossed in the market. The consequence is the generation of a field that is broadcasting a misleading notion of Play-Fight, at least according to Formless Arts standards.
Play-Fight Practice doesn’t only challenge the practitioners. It has also become a challenged for us, the Formless Team, to figure out dignified ways to communicate on the virtual world the alarming dissonance between the core values of our Practice with those other newer styles of Play-Fight that are spreading out a more trivial impression over this label.
Marina Sekacheva made a very simple yet stunningly beautiful piece of art, by capturing the essence of those kindred beings during the Camp while they were moving through the process or, maybe, while they were being moved by the process. Thanks Marina for your touching art, a tender revelation of vulnerability and truthfulness.
We would like to welcome everyone familiar to the practice to also share your personal experiences and perception of the Play-Fight Practice, any hint that extrapolates the mere obvious, be it through thoughts, images, poetry, symbolism, understandings, however, whatever might flow in resonance with your hearts.
Gratitude
Formless Arts Team
